This page collects the requirements and resources for the T&L Knowledge Base built for LocTerms. Administrative information includes such specifications as the sector, purpose, and subject fields of the KB.
The section for each corpus includes guidelines on the authors (referred to as SMEs) and publishers to include in the corpus. The sections for the corpora also links to the respective corpus item submission form, corpus tracker, and corpus for each language and dialect. The resources section includes information that is beneficial to know when working with corpora.
Administrative Information
- Sector: Language services industry
- Purpose: Integration with GenAI and NMT systems, terminology and definition extraction, and linguistic research on common collocations
- Subject fields: Localization, translation, and related fields
- Languages and variants: English for the United States, Spanish for Latin America
- Note on languages and dialects: Within specialized fields, terminology tends to be standardized across dialects. That said, publications in any dialect of English and Spanish can be submitted to the localization corpora.
T&L KB App
The T&L KB App on Airtable is the centralized platform via which we collect, report on, and monitor the contents of the KB. The following types of information can be found on the app.
- SMEs and Institutions for EN-US and ES-LATAM – These pages list the individual authors and institutions who write about T&L fluently for other SMEs in the language variants of our project. The lists serve as an example of the authors and institutions whose writing strengthens the reliability of the knowledge base.
- Submission Forms – The information documented about the content added to the KB is standardized via submission forms.
- KB Contents – The contents that have been added to the KB are listed in various databases.
- Analytics – For our T&L KB to be reliable, it needs to be balanced. The analytics pages give information on the overall balance of the contents in the KB.

- Contents – A selection of the full contents of the KB can be made available. Access to the full contents of the KB can be accessed via a subscription.
Guidelines
- SMEs – This page outlines the characteristics of reliable authors whose publications can be added to the corpus.
- Publishers – This page outlines the characteristics of reliable publishers whose publications can be added to the corpus.
- Institutions – This page outlines the characteristics of the reliable institutions whose publications can be added to the corpus.
- Guidelines for Creating Editable Files – When submitting publications to the corpora, submitters are asked to submit both PDF and editable versions. These guidelines outline what to be aware of when creating editable files for uploading to the corpus. These guidelines include requirements for editable files produced through OCR.
